Directors Statement I Am Whole is both a statement about my own life and a metaphorical representation of a process of self acceptance. A process which many kink audience members will be familiar. The film centers around the Jungian concept “I must also have a dark side if I am to be whole.” By drawing into to parallel the perfect symmetry this sentiment has for those of us working through embracing our sexual selves in the face of social constraints.

I aim to position BDSM in a normalizing position, showing it juxtaposed with a sex scene that is more familiar. Both scenes are treated with beauty and importance and neither are shown as ‘the dark side’ that BDSM is so often relegated to being, Those value judgments are left to the individual and hopefully any preconceived notions of BDSM’s darkness are challenged.
