Trans’Action

CREVETTE PRODUCTION

9 min. Directed by KAy Garnellen
Description:

Between dream and reality, Trans'Action is a body experiment about fantasies and gender. In the Berliner special landscape you will follow the mind's chaos of a character physically experimenting sexual practices. Originally shot for Kristian Petersen's Fucking Different XXY, a collage of 7 short movies all directed by trans* people.

"Trans'Action is one of the short movies of Fucking Different XXY, all realized by Trans people. The idea of the producer, Kristian Petersen was to ask us to do something that is different, "stranger" to us. I was working a lot with my friend Emy and had already the idea of a performance about the fact that we were both trans', and therefore sharing a common experience, but as the same time I never knew how it feels to be born male and wanted to have a female appearance and body and the same for Emy the other way around. I've added the fact that we are both sexworkers and (almost) never had female clients and that we were all into BDSM and it ended up as the experimental chaotic movie it is. This movie is about showing other kind of bodies and sexualities but also about gentrification and the spaces we're loosing in Berlin and it reflects the great chaos my life has become since I've changed my life with my transition, becoming a queer artist, sexworker and parent (Sadie had just given birth when we shot)." - KAy Garnellen
