Wall of Fire

A tender and passionate afternoon make-out session climaxes in intense, consensual amputee sex between two self-identified fat bodied genderqueer women, in the short film Wall of Fire by partners Lisa Ganser and Nomy Lamm.

Between paddles and penetration, the sex and connection they share poses an honest and unfiltered look at what it’s like to love someone as we see ourselves. This vision challenges conventional beauty standards, subverting gender, sexuality, and self, while, as the film’s creators say, exposing what it means to “work with what we got (or not).”

Author and fat-activist Virgie Tovar says of the film:

“What makes the film so powerful is that it offers a critique of the ideas and representations of fat bodies and disabled bodies in not only mainstream but also queer media and discourse. Beyond its value as an arousing and intimate portrait, this film has clear political significance as a documentation project. Lisa archives this typically hidden or absent-from-public-memory narrative around the disabled body, the fat body and the multiplicity of queer sex.”

Not to be left out is the beautiful original score by Nomy Lamm. Wall of Fire was completely underwritten and funded by feminist sex shop the Smitten Kitten.

The film has screened at the San Francisco PornFilmFestival, Un(dis)sing Our Abilities, and QCC’s National Queer Arts Festival, among many others.

24 Screening: JUICE Screening: JUICE February 24, 2025 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm 4 Star Theater, 2200 Clement St, San Francisco, CA 94121, USA https://www.4-star-movies.com/calendar-of-events/juice-jenni-olson JUICE (1984) — also newly restored by The Bressan Project — on Feb 24 at the 4-Star Theater Juice was the final adult film directed by filmmaker Arthur J. Bressan, Jr., a pioneering voice in independent queer cinema who incorporated adult film into his wider range of stories about queer life during the 70’s and 80’s. Alongside adult movies like Forbidden Letters and Passing Strangers, Bressan also created documentaries about the blossoming gay rights movement (Gay USA) and made the first narrative feature film ever about the AIDS epidemic (Buddies). Juice follows Jim (Michael Christopher), a photographer on a deadline to find new models for the gay magazine he works for. He spends the weekend perusing around New York City on a search for men to photograph, all while dreaming about a jogger (Vincent Thomas) he met in the park. The film will be introduced by filmmaker and archivist Jenni Olson, one of the co-directors of The Bressan Project: an organization dedicated to restoring and re-releasing the many works Bressan made throughout his life. After the screening, Jenni Olson will be on hand to discuss the film with writer Dennis Harvey (48 Hills, Variety). Event is 18+.
