Sensate Films is an Australia-based producer of premium-quality, process-based erotic media — what some are calling “Slow Porn.”

The result is beautiful erotic film that is accessible to a diverse audience. It’s based on the values of performance authenticity, performer revelations, high production values, and a collaborative process. In 2012, Sensate Films produced six shorts, winning three international accolades over two continents. (Sensate’s short film TAKEN screens this weekend in San Francisco at the QUICKIES: Erotic Short Film Competition.)

Sensate has set up a OFFBeatr (the porn equivalent of Kickstarter) and is currently over halfway to reaching their $8,000 goal to cover camera and sound kit. (Deadline: December 13th!) They’ve offered some pretty outstanding rewards, including streaming and download access to their work-to-date, limited-edition archival prints of Sensate Films stills, DVD copies in beautifully-handmade packaging, Skype sessions and other smutty opportunities courtesy of director Gala Vanting, access to the documentary upon its completion, and original artwork from Sensate editor Aven Frey.

Sensate is on the verge of a lot of growth and amazing projects. Director Gala Vanting says:

We’d like to play a lot more with erotic documentary, and the first production we have planned explores the diverse styles of relating that flow from connections based in kink and BDSM. At its core, BDSM is a mode of intimacy, and we wish to contribute something valuable to the growing body of stories and images which bust popular myths about kink relationships and the people within them. By exploring a diversity of types of relationships built around kink and providing a space for subjects to show us what theirs really looks like, we want to soften the edges of mainstream representations of kink and treat the subject and the community with the respect it deserves.

Gala says they’ll also be working on a series that focuses on real-life partners and their lived intimacies; some exclusive pieces for Dusk TV (a Feminist Porn TV Channel in The Netherlands); further additions to their ‘Femmetasms’ series of video montage pieces addressing ‘female fantasies’; an ongoing series for makelovenotporn.tv, and much more…
