Berlin filmmakers Candy Flip and Theo Meow (of Meow Meow Films) have staged a new, subversive project.

SAD GIRLS is an independent porn collective wherein “Tess” and three other young women have turned their back on the world, retreating to a hut in the mountains. There, they celebrate their own sadness as an act of resistance against patriarchy, financing their isolated existence through amateur porn clips.

Tess, we understand you were apprehended recently by Europol! (Luckily for our readers, we have found a way to contact you via carrier pigeon.) What’s their issue and why are they holding you captive?

Yes, I’m a captive of the German state for a few months now. I’m not surprised because it was clear from the beginning that the authorities would not accept our form of activism. We tried to escape the constraints of capitalist and heteronormative society. We supported Kurdish women freedom fighters’ organizations that are criminalized in Germany. We funded ourselves by shooting and distributing pornography. We are public enemy and that’s ok. Unfortunately, police shut down our online clip store so we are very happy that we can offer some of our clips on PinkLabel.tv.
 

 
What is this documentary Sad Girls from the Mountains? How was it made and where can we find out about the protests?

This documentary is a tragedy. The video host who made it, Hendrik Adams, is a complete fuckwit. He offered us loads of money for an exclusive documentary shooting at our cabin in the mountains. We were too naïve and accepted. In the end he revealed our whereabouts to the authorities which was the end of the Sad Girls’ activities and brought me into prison. Therefore, we call for protests against the screening of the film.
