Quiet on set! Gain the basics and best practices of sound recording and editing for picture. In this special course with guest instructor C. Daddio, we’ll discuss the two most common types of microphones, learn how to get the most from your camera sound, and gain an overview of field and production recording. Then, we’ll cover editing sound with dialogue, ambience, sound effects, and go over common mistakes — and how to avoid them.
About the instructor: C. Daddio is the owner of Oakland Hi-fi DIY recording studio Donut Time Audio, and a guitarist for the post-punk garage quartet Everyone Is Dirty. He has been active in the Bay Area art and music scene for over 20 years, having worked on numerous film projects, music recordings, and sound design. He was the Sound Designer for Shine Louise Houston’s films SNAPSHOT and Birthday.
This workshop takes place at 4th Wall SF, located at 1458 San Bruno Avenue in San Francisco, California. Directions and more information will be emailed to participants prior to event date.
All genders, orientations and proclivities are welcome. We strive to create a safe, consensual, and non-judgmental environment. 4th Wall is wheelchair accessible. Please let us know if you have any needs and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
