Erotic film festivals are a rarity. There’s Seattle’s HUMP, Cinekink (kink-focused), the Berlin Porn Film Festival, and San Francisco’s very own: the Good Vibrations’ QUICKIES Erotic Shorts Competition.
Presented by Good Vibrations, the QUICKIES offer an alternate forum for a broader exploration of “erotic cinema” beyond mainstream media. Independent filmmakers from around the world weigh in with their entertaining and provocative short pieces, challenging and celebrating sex as we may or may not know it. Past films screened at the QUICKIES include Tooth & Nail by Femmerati, and works by Bright Desire, Poppy Cox (of Come Find Me!), and queer porn mavens Maxine Holloway & Arabelle Raphael. (Several films find their way on PINKLABEL, a fair-trade Video on Demand site for independent filmmakers.)
The annual film competition takes place at the Castro Theater in San Francisco on Friday, December 6th, 2013. DEADLINE: September 30th.
CALLING ALL INDEPENDENT FILMMAKERS – LET’S HAVE A QUICKIE!
Funny, serious, romantic, cynical, straight, gay, queer, documentary, international, etc. – if it’s 7 minutes or LESS send it our way! (Extra points for early entry.)
WHO SUBMITS
Independent film makers of all kinds are encouraged to send in their short erotic films. Whether you’re an established indie filmmaker, an art student, a budding filmmaker, or just having fun with your Flipcam, we want to see your stuff!
WHAT IS EROTIC, ANYWAY?
The term is as broad as the number of people considering it, so whether it’s an arty narrative, stand-up comedy, soft lovemaking, or hard core fucking, if it turns you on, it’s erotic. Funny, serious, romantic, cynical, straight, gay, queer, bring it on. Animation, documentary, short fiction, music video are all fair game.
PRIZE MONEY
Our 2013 Audience Choice Award Winner will receive $1,500. Finalists will receive VIP passes to the pre-party and tickets for friends and family for a screening at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco on Friday, December 6th, 2013.
