We’re back in the land of bearded babes and bicycles. Pink & White Productions, based in San Francisco, took a field-trip to our neighbors in the North last weekend to attend the Feminist Porn happenings in Toronto, Canada.
For the last eight years, Canada has been home to the Feminist Porn Awards, hosted by Toronto’s women-owned sex shop Good For Her. Inspired by feminist porn icon Annie Sprinkle, who said “The answer to bad porn isn’t no porn… it’s to try and make better porn!” Good For Her created an award ceremony to honor the film artists who produce sex-positive work with feminist sensibilities. These sensibilities include: expanding the representations sexuality, the employment of women and other marginalized peoples in the creation of the work, and the focus on genuine pleasure. Sounds like our kind of party!
Performer Jiz Lee presented BIODILDO, by new PinkLabel.tv director Christian Slaughter, at Public. Porn. Provacative. Also screened were Krutch by Clark Matthews, Taken by Gala Vanting, among others.

The two presented “Making Authenticity Explicit: How Women-Made Pornography Constructs “Real Sex” along with Shar Rednour, Jill Bakehorn.
Pink & White Productions Founder/Director Shine Louise Houston presented a short documentary, “Shiny Jewels,” on her work. In it, Shine Louise Houston speaks with Shine Louise Houston and her co-director Shine Louise Houston about a day in the life of an adult film maker. This short documentary looks at the creative process, practical nuts and bolts as well as the ethics of Shine Louise Houston. What does liking porn say about one’s self? What does it mean to make porn for others? Why, in your everyday life, are you closeted about what you do? These questions and more are answered candidly in this self-conscious, self-reflective and humorous short. It was brilliant and will be online soon.
Also, stay tuned in because we will be posting interviews with your favorite Feminist Porn Awards directors and talent!
